Witte Bleckede, developer and manufacturer of different workpiece clamping systems, offers a comprehensive range of standard vacuum components which can also clamp complicated part geometries.
However, a large portion of clamping fixtures are unique since especially difficult cases require custom built solutions.
One example is a special fixture designed and manufactured by Witte for clamping two cylindrical aluminium sheets for the fuselage of A340 Airbus during FSW (friction stir welding). This fixture has six independent vacuum areas which guarantee a high degree of flexibility with regard to part dimensions.
Support elements are extendable along both sides securing parts which overlap the fixture itself. Special stops ensure repeatable positioning of parts during FSW process.
