O-shaped seal is placed along the base chuck grid slots according to the outline of the adapter plate. The adapter plate also allows tools to cut right through the parts without damaging the base cuck.
As the parts are fairly small (150x150) with rounded contours and corners, it is important that the raw sheets (400x400mm) are securely held with vacuum over the whole lower surface area.
In order to evenly distribute and maintain vacuum over the whole lower surface, also after contour milling of each part finishes, a porous friction booster sheet is placed between adapter plate and part. This gives extra friction resistance to the parts during milling.
This clamping solution has the added advantage of avoiding vibration on critical areas like ridges and achieves a very good surface finish.
